It is being dubbed “Shark Tank Meets the Apprentice for the Cannabis Industry” by both the cannabis media and mainstream media. What is it?
It is The Marijuana Show, a reality show for budding ganjaprenuers. The brainchild of Karen Paull and Wendy Robbins of New Mexico, The Marijuana Show will launch its first season on November 18 at 7:20 EST on their own channel (themarijuanashow.com as well as with syndicated partners to be announced).
With backgrounds in digital marketing and film production, Paull and Robbins created this show to feature 22 participants who complete a series of challenges that bring them one step closer to the final round in which six finalist participate in an intense three-day business boot camp. The final contestants then pitch to investors in hopes of becoming the next marijuana millionaire. The winners receive financing, mentorship and the show’s platform.
In an interview with MaryEllen Fillo of the Harford Courant, Robbins said, “Two hundred auditioned sharing unique business ideas including edibles, hemp products, apps, sustainable growing ideas, education, tourism and much more. Many have multi-million dollar ideas that would excite any investor.”
With the first season wrapped up, Paull and Robbins will be at the IndoExpo in Denver to audition a new set of ganjaprenuers. Those wanting to participate must be 21 years of age and have a business plan and product or sample. Auditions will be held at the Indo Expo in the Denver Mart Expo Building on Saturday November 15, 2014 from 9 am to 4 pm with callbacks on Sunday November 16 from 9 am to 4 pm.
Are you planning to go to the IndoExpo? Oaksterdam University will host two seminars; one covers the basics of entering the cannabis industry the second, which is an addendum to the basic seminar, covers patient relations, budtending, procurement and allocation, and regulations of Colorado’s dispensing law.
OU is also sponsoring a Public Job Fair on November 16 from 10 am to 6 pm. “This is an excellent opportunity to put qualified candidates in front of employers of choice,” said Dale Sky Jones, OU’s Executive Chancellor.
The Indo Expo Trade Show is a two-day, full-spectrum event designed to assist in building relationships between growers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and the public. The show features exhibitors from a wide range of areas including cultivation, new technologies, smoke, lifestyle, education, industrial hemp, and industry services. A number of guest speakers and a variety of educational seminars, classes and workshops will be offered. Saturday is focused on business-to-business networking, and is open to the public on Sunday. All activities will be held in The Denver Mart Expo Building at 451 E 58th Avenue, Denver, CO.
